Past reflections

The motions came easy,
and i felt for you,
Just that something in your eye
and i needed for you,
You'd move the world
If I asked you to.
And i knew...

How bright each day became
and i wanted to,
Observe each moment,
and be with you,
To have and to hold
And i knew...
I did not love you

This poem is about one of those moments that you realize you don't love someone the same way they love you. It can be hard because many times you've been friends and/or lovers for years and you really want them to be in your life.

-To a close and personal friend of mine.

This poem fascinates me, not simply because of its links to the past but of utter curiousity regarding this friend/lover. The ambiguity of this character I believe can be seen within all of us and I would love to read more about this protagonist character.
